Totoku Develops Per-Pixel Gamma Scale

Totoku, a division of JVC Kenwood, will be showing a new multimodality breast imaging display at RSNA 2015 (29th November – 4th December, Chicago).

The CCL550i2 is a 21.3″, 5MP monitor, and is already FDA-approved.

Gamma curves can be tricky to work with in medical displays. Greyscale screens should use the Dicom curve, while colour screens use a static gamma of 2.2 – but this precludes the ability to view images side-by-side. Totoku has developed a pixel-based gamma, with the display itself deciding which gamma to use per pixel.

As well as the per-pixel gamma, the CCL550i2 features an auto text mode. In this mode, the display detects very bright white areas and dims them, without affecting other areas of the screen.

Totoku says that the unit is its first high-brightness (500 cd/m²) colour display; it also has a 1,300:1 contrast ratio.

As well as the CCL550i2, Totoku will show its full line-up of diagnostic displays at RSNA 2015.
