Tokyo Electron IJP is for Automotive and IT Applications

Tokyo Electron has announced a new inkjet printing system for making OLED panels. The Elius 1000 system can print the RG and B pixels at the same time and supports substrates up to G4.5 (up to 730 x 920mm), but is able to create displays at over 200ppi. That is in contrast to its earlier Elius 2500 which is for substrates up to G8.5 (2200 x 2500mm) but are suitable for lower PPI resolution.

Analyst Comment

This kind of smaller system would not give the kind of ppi needed for high end smartphones, but is too small for economic production of big TVs. Therefore, the kind of application that would be supported is more like the JOLED target markets such as automotive and high end IT displays. (BR)
