What They Say
PetaPixel had an article about a ‘breathtaking’ Dimenco AS3D built around a 32″ 8K display with good colour performance of 100% Adobe RGB, 100% sRGB, 100% Rec709, and 98% DCI-P3 and 400 cd/m² of output. The set (video here) uses Intel RealSense D455 sensors for eye tracking and a leap motion controller for hand tracking. The article describes a demonstration of the $11,225 priced monitor.
The reviewer also had a demonstration of the Acer Concept D SpatialLabs Edition notebook, which was developed in collaboration with Dimenco. He was impressed.
What We Think
It seems that the processing and dot densities of displays are finally getting to the level to deliver a good experience in stereo. I have seen good demoes from Dimenco before and the firm has long experience in getting the content right for this application. It spun out from Philips when the Dutch giant decided that although it saw a future in 3D displays, it thought it could never recoup its investment as development and market growth would simply take too long. At the moment that still seems to be a good judgement. (BR)
