Intriguingly, a company at IFA called Tesla was showing, among other things, Tesla TVs. However, there is nothing connected to Elon Musk here – rather the brand is licensed for a range of products.
What We Think
The Tesla name came from businesses that were based on technology and research from Nicolas Tesla. I reported the demise of the Tesla-Ecimex Company in 2006 when the market was shifting from the CRTs that it made and by 2008, I reported that Changhong was making Tesla branded TVs at its factory in the Czech Republic replacing sets brought in from Turkey under that brand.
