What They Say
Vincent Teoh of HDTVTest checked the 2022 Panasonic LZ2000 WOLED TV and found it to be ‘the most accurate TV on the planet’. It hits 1002 cd/m² with a 10% window with very accurate PQ tracking. It is brighter than Sony’s A95K doesn’t reach 1,000 cd/m² and the Samsung QD-OLED TV has elevated low grey scales.
The Panasonic has the latest LG Display Ex panel and uses a heat dispersion layer (as Sony does on the A95K). Teoh said that there is some error in low grey scale on the Panasonic, but he plans to run the set for 200 hours to see if this goes away. If not, he will calibrate it as the set has very granular calibration settings.
He also runs through the BFI implementation and input lag (very little lag, especially at 120Hz). There are only two HDMI2.1 ports (one with eArc) because of the Mediatek processor used and there is also an either/or choice of Dolby Vision or 120Hz game play, also because of the chip.
The set was assembled in Poland (where TCL also makes sets) as Panasonic moves away from making its sets in the Czech Republic.
What We Think
I have been buying Panasonic sets for a number of years, although never the ‘top of the range’. It must be frustrating for US enthusiasts to see this kind of review when the sets are not available to them! (BR)
