Weak overall demand for LCD TVs led TCL Multimedia Technology to a 24.8% fall in sales volume in November. In the company’s home market of China, sales volume decreased 18.4% year on year to 784,282 sets, though the proportion of smart TV sales increased 12% to 333,385. The volume of smart TVs comprised 42.5% of the group’s total LCD TV sales volume in China last month.
In the overseas market, the group’s LCD TV sales volume decreased 32.3% from a year earlier to 561,096, which TCL blamed on the tight supply of display panels. In particular, the group’s sales in the emerging markets were down 27.8% YoY to 332,506 sets.
