TCL Electronics Bullish on First Half of 2021

TCL reported profits up 122.9% for the first half of the year at $133 million. Revenues were up 103.7% for the year to $4.49 billion. TCL smartTV sales rose to 11.27 million sets, up 11.9% and the firm quoted data from Sigmaintell to give a market share of 11.6%, up 1%. According to the latest data released by GfK and NPD, the sales volume of TCL smart screen during January to May 2021 ranks among the top five in 19 overseas countries and regions.

According to China Market Monitor’s omni-channel data, sales volume of TCL smart screen in the People’s Republic of China (“PRC”) accounted for 13.9% of the market share in the first half of the year, ranking third domestically. The market share in terms of sales revenue in the PRC reached 13.2%, jumping to second domestically.

What We Think

TCL is steadily building its brand and business. We reported recently that Roku devices were now available in Germany. The Roku OS is a key feature of TCLs SmartTVs, so that might help the firm in that market. The firm recently launched its Roku-based sets in the UK. (BR)
