Digitimes Research said that the three biggest Taiwanese ODMs (Compal, Quanta and Wistron) were down 12% in volume in October, while the top five notebook brands, HP, Dell, Lenovo, Acer and Asustek, were down 22% to 10.19 million units. Only Dell was up on a monthly basis. The company expects some recovery of around 15% to 20% this month.
Separately, the company said that Acer will mainly buy from Quanta and Compal next year, while Pegatron will make the extra thin “Swift” series. Wistron has, apparently, won no business for 2017.
