Shipments of LCD monitors by Taiwanese makers declined by 6.3% quarter-on-quarter in the first quarter of 2018, according to Digitimes Research, dropping below 20 million units.
Despite the sequential decline, the figures represented a year-on-year growth for the sector. The country’s shipment share of the global market also grew slightly during the quarter. LCD monitors of 22″ and above saw a slight shipment ratio growth quarter-on-quarter.
In terms of individual companies, Qisda saw year-on-year growth in the double digits, while Foxconn saw flat growth. Digitimes Research has predicted shipment growth across the board in the second quarter of 2018. Worldwide LCD monitor shipments are expected to decline by 2-3% year-on-year in 2018, after seeing a 2.8% drop in 2017. In spite of this, Digitimes Research predicts that Qisda specifically will see continued double-digit growth.
