UltraHD Sales Rose Ahead of Super Bowl

US retailers said that the Super Bowl was helping them to sell UltraHD TVs before the event – despite no broadcaster transmitting in the format. Best Buy’s TV sales volumes were up 2.6% YoY over Christmas, and Target experienced a double-digit lift in its sales over the same period. Brian Markwalter, of the CEA, said that about 53% of consumers plan to buy a new TV in the next three years, and 14% in the next six months.
