According to Spain’s competition watchdog, Comisión Nacional de los Mercados y la Competencia (CNMC), at the end of the third quarter of 2016, Spanish pay-TV subscribers reached 6,006,326, which is up almost 600,000 from the previous quarter which ended with 5,430,887 subscribers. Gains were made by IPTV, which was up 3.3 million, followed by cable with 1.48 million and satellite with 952,579 more subscribers.
Over 5 million households subscribed to converged packages and 4.5 million households subscribers to five-play with fixed and mobile telephony, fixed and mobile bandwidth and pay-TV.
Movistar had 3.71 million pay-TV subscribers, followed by Vodafone with 1.2 million and Orange with 462,000.
