The number of pay-TV subscribers in Spain increased by 340,000 in Q2’14, says regulator CNMC, to 4.3 million. Telefonica’s Movistar service saw the largest growth, up 91% YoY to 1.2 million. Canal Plus lost 22,000 customers (1.3%), ending Q2 at 1.62 million. ONO was the third-largest company, losing 52,000 subscribers (-6.3%) to 777,000. Telecable, Euskaltel and R lost 1,900, 4,400 and 7,400 customers respectively, ending the quarter at 128,109; 120,979; and 93,000 subscribers.
