What They Say
Via its social media channels, Sony said that it would launch the PlayStation VR2 for the PS5 in 2023, in contrast to many of its launches that have taken place in Q3 or Q4.
- The company has shared some specs for the PSVR 2:
- The headset connects to the PS5 with a USB C cable.
- It will have eye-tracking, run at 90 or 120Hz, and feature displays with up to 4K resolution along with a 110-degree field of view.
- Unlike its predecessor, the headset will use inside-out tracking, meaning its onboard cameras and systems track a user’s controllers or hands so no outside camera setup is needed.
- The PSVR 2’s orb-shaped controllers offer adaptive triggers and haptic feedback, similar to the PS5 DualSense controller.
- About 20 major games are expected at launch. These include “No Man’s Sky” and games set in the “Walking Dead” and “Horizon” universes.
Pricing has not yet been announced.
