Bloomberg said that Sony is planning to make two million units of its PlayStation VR2 headsets by March 2023 as mass production started in September and is not facing supply chain constraints at the moment. This would represent much fast penetration than the original headset which took 8 months to hit sales of one million. The article quotes data from IDC that highlights that Meta’s Quest 2 headset shipped 2.8 million units in its first quarter.
Sony’s stock price rose slightly on the news.
