Sony had a very small booth with just a couple of staff, but did have a couple of new projectors, the VPL-GTZ240 and VPL-GTZ280 which are commercial versions of Sony’s consumer SXRD projectors with laser phosphor light sources. The 240 has DCI 4K resolution and uses three 0.74″ devices to produce 2,000 Ansi lumens with 16,000:1 native contrast. Unlike the consumer units, the projectors have interchangeable lenses and the VPLL-Z7013 has 2.15:1 zoom ratio, while the VPLL-Z7008 supports 1.34:1. Both are powered and the projector supports +-80% vertical shift on both lenses with +- 31% and +-18% horizontally on the two lenses, respectively.
Optional licences on the VPL-GTZ-280 allow the higher unit to support up to 5.000 lumens, 120Hz frame rate and HDR.
The VPL-GTZ240 will be available in July for around €25,000.
