Smartkem Gets Investment for OTFT

SmartKem of the UK, which is developing organic semiconductors, has received further funding from existing syndicate members of £3 million ($3.7 million). The money will be used to help the movement of the company’s organic transistors into production and to support the development of flexible OLEDs which will use the technology for substrates

Steve Kelly, CEO of SmartKem, said, “Prior funding enabled us to capitialise on the strong traction with display manufacturers wanting to adopt our semiconductor technology platform. We have since made real progress in the transfer of our technology over to Asia and this recent funding will support the move from pre-production to scaled-up production.”

The company has its headquarters in North Wales and an 8,000 sq ft (743m²) technology facility in Manchester UK and employs over 35 people.
