SmartKem, a UK designer and developer of semiconductors for electronic displays, has signed a landmark deal which will lead to full commercialisation of its organic thin film transistor (OTFT) technology, it said. The contract will see a complete transfer of the company’s technology, including production line deployment and supply of materials, to an unnamed Taiwanese display maker by September 2018, to enable the mass manufacture of low-power, lightweight, flexible displays.
