Sky Q customers in the UK and Ireland, that have Sky Sports and Sky’s Q box, will be able to watch England’s four cricket test (international) matches in Ultra HD this summer. The test matches will take place in South Africa in July and August.
Sky originally launched its Ultra HD service for Sky Q customers last summer, and has shown Formula 1 motor racing and Premier League football.

As I may have said before, although I’m not a huge fan of cricket, I occasionally enjoy a match. I was very surprised in the early days of HD that cricket was one of the sports that benefited most from the HD quality as it is a game of subtlety and sophistication. If you don’t understand the details, you don’t understand the match. The better resolution of UltraHD should also make a difference in showing the sport. Cricket is a huge sport (and business) in India, so development of UltraHD in cricket may help the development of UltraHD in that region. (BR)
