Sky has launched a new VR app and has said that it will develop content itself and with partners. One of the first will be Sky Sports: Closer featuring David Beckham.
The English National Ballet (ENB) is working with Sky to produce a virtual reality piece based on Akram Khan’s Giselle, performed by Tamara Rojo. Rojo uses the whole of the 360º space, with her movements shown by the trail of light and dust she leaves behind. The two-minute piece will be one of the first to be shown on Sky’s VR app.
Other VR content that will appear in the app includes: Sky Cinema-produced VR footage from the premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, called Star Wars: Red Carpet; two Disney VR experiences from film The Jungle Book; a Fox Innovation Lab spin-off from film The Martian, called The Martian Sneak Peek; and Suicide Squad: Squad 360 from Warner Brothers.
As we have reported, Sky is an investor in Jaunt.
