The Society for Information Display has revealed the winners of its annual awards. The CTO of Huawei’s Japan Research Center, Hiroyuki Ohshima, is to receive the Karl Ferdinand Braun Prize for his contribution to LTPS technology development, while the CTO of China Star Optoelectronics, Dr. Shui-Chih Alan Lieh, is recognised with the Jan Rajchman Prize for his work on multi-domain vertical alignment LCDs and curved televisions. Special awards also go to Dr. Martin Banks for research into viewer discomfort and viewing misperceptions, Dr. Deng-Ke Yang for LCD education, and Dr. Yi-Pau Huang for his contributions to wide view MVA and field sequential colour driving technology. Kenneth Werner is honoured with the Lewis and Beatrice Winner Award for exceptional and sustained service to the SID. The awards will be presented during Display Week in Los Angeles in May.

We’re very proud of the fact that our own Ken Werner received this prestigious award. Of course, Ken was the editor of Information Display and ran the best press room of any show that I have attended over the years. (BR)
