Kopin & Panasonic Subsidiary show VR Headset

What They Say

We have been reporting on Kopin’s microOLEDs and its developments of all plastic ‘pancake optics’. At CES 2022, Shiftall, a fully owned subsidiary of Panasonic, showed a headset based on the technology called the MaganeX. The headset uses dual 1.3″ 2.6K x 2.6K displays at up to 120Hz and with 10 bit colour. Brightness is said to be more than 1,000 cd/m² and contrast of 10,000:1 and the field of view equivalent to a 200″ display.

Using its patent-pending ColorMax technology, Kopin said that it has been working with its partner, Lakeside Optoelectronic Technology, to optimize the duo-stack OLED structure to output a color spectrum to match the bandpass of the color filters for high color fidelity (> 100% sRGB)

What We Think

The form factor of this headset is very compact and looks much more comfortable than the very deep headsets that we often see. I expect more details to emerge as the headset was due to (BR)
