What They Say
The Elec, quoting SankeiBiz in Japan, reports that Sharp plans to split off its display business into a new subsidiary Sharp Display Technology (SDTC) based in Kameyama, Japan. The factory in Kameyama will be used for automotive and medical displays. The move may help the company to raise money for future technology developments such as microLED.
What We Think
I don’t feel qualified to give an informed opinion on this move – there have been a lot of changes since Foxconn took control and recently Sharp bought a factory from JDI. (BR)
