SDP Heading for IPO?

The Nikkei has reported that Foxconn and its Sharp subsidiary may be considering an IPO for the Sakai Display Products business. The comments follow the news about a new investment in China (New SDP $8.8 billion LCD Plant Confirmed)/

After the news report, Sharp’s share price rose 11%.

Separately, the Nikkei Asian Review reported that Foxconn and Sharp are looking at building a fab in Zhengzhou, Henan province, in China, to make OLEDs that might be used by Apple in iPhones. Foxconn already has a smartphone facility in the city and the fab would be an alternative to building a fab in Japan.
