Sakai Display Products (SDP), which is now majority owned by Foxconn Group, rather than by Sharp, is to build a new G10.5 plant in Guangzhou province, China. The target start date of the plant is 2019 and the news confirms previous rumours. The total cost of the plant is quoted at $8.8 billion and capacity is quoted at 90,000 substrates per month with IGZO transistors.

There were also reports that the park with the fab would include a TV factory and another to make interactive electronic whiteboards.

Separately, there was news that Foxconn group, via SIO International Holdings, has bought shares in SDP to take its share to 53.05%, while Sharp now has around 26%.
