The Nikkei has reported that Foxconn and its Sharp subsidiary may be considering an IPO for the Sakai Display Products business. The comments follow the news about a new investment in China (New SDP $8.8 billion LCD Plant Confirmed)/
After the news report, Sharp’s share price rose 11%.
Separately, the Nikkei Asian Review reported that Foxconn and Sharp are looking at building a fab in Zhengzhou, Henan province, in China, to make OLEDs that might be used by Apple in iPhones. Foxconn already has a smartphone facility in the city and the fab would be an alternative to building a fab in Japan.
