Scala has introduced a new player for digital signage devices that run Google Chrome, such as Chromebox products. As part of the work, Scala has joined the Google for Work Partner Programme.
The player can run 24/7 and uses Scala’s content management system (CMS) platform; this can be used for network control and monitoring, and is scalable and extendable using open APIs. The Scala Enterprise Player for Chromebox, used with Chrome Device Management, delivers HTML5 content, ‘advanced’ scheduling and screen zone division; independent playback is possible in each zone.
Scala’s app, powering the display, runs in Google’s self-contained environment. It connects directly to the Scala Enterprise Content Manager; communicates over HTTP/HTTPS; and can be used to view maintenance stats on state, heartbeats and diagnostic logging.
