IP-Network’s Television International Key Facts 2014 presentation shows that 87% of households in the EU were receiving digital TV last year. Finland, Greece, Italy and the UK have now achieved 100% digital penetration. Germany is at 69%. Satellite DTH is the most commonly-used method of receiving DTV in Europe (33%), followed by DTT (29%), cable (14%) and IPTV (11%). France leads IPTV takeup, with 40% penetration. Almost all households in the EU – 97% – own a TV set; 56% own at least one additional set; 77% have an HDTV and 20% own a connected TV.
