Samsung is out promoting the Odyssey OLED G9 gaming monitor (G95SC), a jump up from the Odyssey OLED G8 (G85SB), with the company’s first OLED display to offer dual quad high definition (DQHD; 5,120 x 1,440) resolution. The 49-inch monitor has an aspect ratio of 32:9 and a 1800R curvature, the equivalent of two QHD screens placed side by side.
The G9 is a second-generation QD-OLED panel that has a square pixel layout compared to a hexagonal layout, while preserving the original RGB triangular configuration. There should be an improvement in text clarity, and less font glitches. Beyond its specifications, the monitor claims near-instant response times, per-pixel dimming, and excellent HDR performance, providing true blacks and a near infinite contrast ratio. The monitor also includes Samsung’s advanced Neo Quantum AI processor to optimize picture quality, CoreSync RGB lighting, as well as connectivity options including DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.1, and Mini HDMI 2.1. In addition, it provides Smart TV features like Prime Video, Netflix, and YouTube apps, along with Samsung Gaming Hub for game streaming.
