What They Say
HDTVTest’s Vincent Teoh has previously reviewed the Samsung S95B and the Sony A95K TVs which both use the SDC QD-OLED panel. In another video, he compares them directly side-by-side. (Sony & Samsung QD-OLED Reviewed). He picks deeply into the detailed differences.
In conclusion, he likes the Samsung for gaming partly because of lower input lag and because of four (vs 2) HDMI 2.1 full bandwidth ports although he doesn’t like some aspects of the Samsung tone-mapping in that mode. Samsung wins overall on value for money, but in terms of picture quality, the Sony wins and the interface is more responsive. The Sony is also less flimsy than the Samsung because of the metal heat sink.
What We Think
No real surprises here, but these are both astonishingly good TVs given the state of the art just seven or eight years ago. As usual, the consumer is the winner. (BR)
