Samsung’s Signage Displays Use TV Tuners

Two new Smart Signage TV displays, designed for 16/7 operation, have been released by Samsung in the US. The RH series (48″ RH48E and 55″ RH55E) have a three-year warranty and can be used in either retail or hospitality settings.

Both sets have an ATSC TV tuner, and can show both live TV and pre-loaded advertising content at the same time. A media player is integrated, and Bluetooth can be used to connect peripherals like speakers or a mouse and keyboard.

The RH displays use Samsung’s Smart Signage platform and feature ‘Wizard’ content creation software. They can be used in portrait or landscape mode and feature a Clone function to quickly copy settings between sets.

Specifications are identical. Resolution is 1920 x 1080 and brightness is 350 cd/m². The TVs use a 60Hz VA panel, with 178° viewing angles, a 5,000:1 contrast ratio and 8ms response time.

HDMI (x3), VGA, composite, USB (x2) and RS232 ports are featured. WiFi Direct is also available. Two 10W speakers are installed, along with 2GB of storage.

Samsung is selling the RH displays worldwide now, for $945 (48″) and $1,400 (55″).
