Samsung’s Galaxy S6 Edge is the most expensive Galaxy S handset ever produced, and costs more to manufacture than the iPhone 6 Plus – despite costing $50 less at retail. In a teardown, IHS estimated the that S6 Edge costs $284.85 to manufacture, while the iPhone costs about $236.04. The curved AMOLED display on the Galaxy phone costs $85 – about $24 more than the non-curved version, and roughly double the price of the iPhone’s TFT-LCD IPS display. IHS estimated the cost of the iPhone’s display at $41 in November last year.
