Samsung Kiosk Uses SoC + Tizen

What They Say

Samsung Electronics has launched a Kiosk in the South Korean market, but which is intended to be available globally in the first half of the year. It will be sold via Fiserv Inc initially. There are three 24″ versions with different mountings – wall, free-standing and table. The operating software runs on the Tizen operating system with Knox, so runs on the SOC. There is also a remote management utility available.

The touch screen has an anti-bacterial coating that is UL-certified. The kiosk has NFC, a credit card reader, a barcode scanner and a printer.

What We Think

It’s slightly surprising, now I think about it, that Samsung hasn’t done this before. However, it also demonstrates the increasing capability of its SoCs with Tizen. (BR)
