The ETNews in Korea reported that Samsung Electronics and Samsung Display will show its foldable smartphone prototypes at MWC 2017, but only to clients and not to the public, analysts or the press. However, the site has said that it is now able to mass produce the CPI film (colourless polyimide) that is needed to replace the cover glass.
Analyst Comment
We met with Samsung Display in its meeting room at ISE this week, and they confirmed that, once again, the MWC meeting room will be ‘out of bounds’ to analysts or press. That’s in line with what it has done over recent years, although it is usually happy to meet and has shown its concepts under NDA since CES 2014 and allowing reporting from CES 2015 (Samsung Display Backs OLED).
