ANI reported data from Omdia that Samsung and LG between them accounted for 47.1% of all global TV sales in Q3 of this year and for the year to date reached 49%. Samsung took 28.7% and LGE took 18.4% with unit sales of 30.84 million and 6.472 million respectively. The result means that Samsung has been the top vendor for 16 years. The article numbers QLED sales by Samsung in Q3 of 6.29 million units, up 24.8% on last year with and with expectations of achieving 10 million sets for the year.
What We Think
This data adds to the information that came out on OLEDs in Q3. (Omdia: LG Electronics OLED TV shipments grew 80% in Q3 2020) The result for Samsung shows the power of its brand, technology and channel management as well as its global strength. (BR)
