Samsung debuted a new AR experience called Dreamground.

What They Say

Samsung US said that it has a new AR live experience that is accessible at Hollywood Park in Los Angeles and the company’s flagship experiential store, Samsung 837, in New York City.

At Hollywood Park and Samsung 837, there are sculptures and floating portals that allow browsers to explore immersive worlds around the user and their smartphone. They include Bubbloonland, Fluttering Forest, and Crystal Galaxy. There’s a video demo here.

Content can also be accessed through the Infinity Screen LED display (Samsung’s Infinity Screen). The Dreamground experience also features portals that are exclusive to Galaxy 5G device holders on Verizon. These Galaxy 5G Portals feature 4K, 360 streamed video and ultra-high fidelity AR. The ability to explore and interact in high resolution and in real-time showcases the power of the high bandwidth and low latency of 5G.

What We Think

It’s not clear from the press release whether Samsung will release or support the tools it uses for these demoes, but if they were developed in-house, I would expect them to. (BR)
