The Korea Herald is reporting that Apple has signed a contract with Samsung Display for the supply of flexible OLEDs for the iPhone that will be launched in 2018, the iPhone 9. That would extend the deal between the two companies beyond the iPhone 8 that has been widely rumoured to be arriving in September 2017. The reports put the likely sizes as 5.28″ and 6.46″, although that is yet to be finalised.
For the iPhone 8, the current rumour is that the top of the range phone will have an OLED, but the other two will use LCD. The new story extends that to two models with OLED in 2018 and would mean a volume of 180 million OLEDs in 2018 to be supplied by Samsung.
