PC shipments in Russia have fallen for the seventh consecutive quarter, IDC data has shown. Shipments were down 16.1% YoY in Q3, to a total of 2.27 million units overall. The portable PC market fell 18.8%, to 1.46 million units, and desktops were down 10,9% to 809,000 units.
The Russian market “continue[s] to be negatively impacted by macroeconomic factors that are part of the overall slowdown in the Russian economy”, said IDC’s Natalia Vinogradova. Market growth is inhibited by weak business sentiment, reflected in enterprises’ delayed spending and postponed XP renewals. Consumer demand was also weak, despite vendors pushing a variety of low-cost PCs.
