What They Say
Hardware testing site, Rtings.com has had a busy time looking at monitors and published its guide to gaming monitors as well as subsets of the best UltraHD, 240Hz and curved gaming monitors.
Overall the site chose the Samsung LC32G75TQSNXZA (that trips off the tongue, doesn’t it!) – a 32″ QuadHD VA monitor with 240Hz and it also liked the ASUS ROG Swift PG279QM for those with an Nvidia GPU as it supports G-Sync. The Samsung set also wins the best curved and 240Hz gaming monitor segments.
The best mid-range monitor was LG’s 27″ QuadHD 180Hz LG 27GP850-B and for tighter budgets, its the Acer Nitro XF243Y Pbmiiprx (go on, ask in store for one of those!) a 24″ FullHD set with 165Hz support.
For consoles, it likes the Gigabyte M32U UltraHD IPS monitor with 133Hz and for eSports it nominates the Dell Alienware AW2521H, a 25″ FullHD IPS monitor with 360Hz. The Gigabyte also wins the best 4K Gaming monitor title. Dell Alienware also winds in the best Ultrawide category with the 34″ WideQuadHD QD-OLED monitor although it highlighted issues with glare in bright rooms.
What We Think
Samsung should be pleased with this result. The company loves the margins that it can make on gaming monitors as it has moved away from the need to keep its panel fab busy by focusing on share to an emphasis on profit. (BR)
