Ricoh’s first-ever home theatre projector is the PJ HDC5420: it’s a DLP unit with a six-segment colour wheel, MHL connectivity and very fast set-up.
Portability is key to the unit, and Ricoh promises that moving it from room-to-room can be accomplished in minutes. The projector measures 314 x 224 x 92mm and weighs 3kg.
Display resolution is 1920 x 1080, and contrast is 1,800:1 – a high contrast mode boosts this to 9,000:1. The 260W lamp provides up to 2,500 lumens of brightness, and will last for between 3,000 and 6,000 hours.
Images can be sized between 30″ and 300″ and thrown from 0.7m – 9.6m (1.07 – 1.45:1 throw ratio). Manual zoom (1.36x) and focus are built in. HDMI (x2), mini-VGA, S-Video and RS232 ports are featured.
Ricoh is selling the projector now, for $1,165. It is on show at InfoComm 2016.
Ricoh also showed two new flat panel displays at InfoComm, emphasising collaboration. The D8400 is an 84″ model while the D2200 is 21.5″.
The D8400 can host up to 400 attendees, via 20 connected IFPDs and 20 connected devices. Content can be transferred via NFC. It was launched at the show and can be purchased now, for $13,715 (without controller) or $16,435 (with controller). The D2200, which features a microphone and speaker system, will be available later this year.
