Researchers Print Paper Display

Researchers from Turkey’s Bilkent University have developed a prototype display, which is printed on normal paper. The display uses graphene ink and is, of course, flexible and foldable.

Forming optoelectronic devices on paper is a challenge, due to the roughness of the surface and the incompatible nature of paper with the materials used. The researchers’ approach relied on electro-modulation of the optical properties of multilayer graphene on paper, through blocking the interband electronic transitions.

Paper-based devices formed in this way have a high contrast ratio and a fast response time, it was said. The research can be found at http://tinyurl.com/zsxpvvu.
