Researchers Develop Glass-Encapsulated Perovskites

What They Say

An international group of scientists has found a way to embed lead-halide perovskites (LHPs) in porous glass, The glass protects the materials, which are very sensitive, while stopping the leaching of the lead from the material. The glass is said to be ‘virtually unbreakable’. The group said that surface defects in the LHPs are also passivated by the process and the LHPs can produce bright, narrow-band photoluminescence with a wide gamut for creating white light-emitting diodes (LEDs).

The research was highlighted in a paper in Science.
