What They Say
Eizo Corp released a case study from the Reference Center Mammography North, one of five centralised facilities for mammography in Germany.
“We only use EIZO monitors. Previously, we have used monitors from other manufacturers, but have gradually replaced them with EIZO”,
reports Christian Grünke, Head of IT System Administration at the centre. Until now, the centre used two EIZO RadiForce GX550 5 megapixel monitors on each diagnostic workstation. On the recommendation of SQ-Labs GmbH, the long-standing supplier these are gradually being replaced by colour RadiForce RX1270.
Christian Grünke explains,
“To optimize the diagnostic workstations, we are now replacing the GX550 models with the RX1270. Compared to the dual-screen, the large single-screen solution with its 12 megapixels offers a significantly higher resolution for even more efficient reporting. In addition, you gain more space on the desk. The comfort light built into the back of the RX1270 is also practical.”
What We Think
We don’t carry many case studies, but this one gave me the chance to talk about the trend in recent years to move to single monitors with dual images rather than single monitors. One of the advantages is that matched pairs of single displays can be quite expensive as it is not easy to match colours between individual monochrome mammography monitors and if they don’t match well, evaluation can be affected. A single colour display tends to be more consistent. Further, although the monitors are expensive to be used for general IT applications when they are not being used for diagnostics. It’s not trivial, however, to make colour monitors that can be approved for diagnostics, as the RX1270 is. (BR)
