Qualcomm is developing an HDMI dongle to wirelessly transfer video from a mobile device to a TV. Patrick Moorhead, an analyst at Moor Insights & Strategy, has seen a prototype of the unit. He said that the focus was on moving UltraHD content, although there may eventually be support for screen mirroring, as well as playing video from sites like Netflix. Although based on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipset, the dongle uses the Universal Plug and Play protocol; it does not require a mobile to be powered by a Snapdragon chip to be used with it.
