What They Say
TrendForce put out its view of the high end TV market, where brands will focus, and away from the small/medium set market because of supply side and profitability issues.
QLED sets are forecast to reach 11.02 million units, up 22.4% on 2020 while OLED TVs will reach 7.1 million, up 80%. Samsung will be up 17% to 9.1 million in the QLED segment with around 1.5 million miniLED sets. Of these, 17% will be 75″, 65″ will be 33% and 55% should see 30%. TCL will reach 800K miniLED TVs.
LG and Sony will share almost 80% of the OLED market (but elsewhere in the Trendforce report, it gives LG ‘more than’ 50% with Sony at 20%).
Total shipments will reach 220 million, up just 1.4%.
What We Think
The OLED growth is, of course, driven by the boost in capacity by LGD from Guangzhou. (BR)
