Research and Markets has published a new report on quantum dots. The firm examines the technology’s market opportunities between 2015 and 2022. These opportunities expanded rapidly over the past year as QDs began to appear in mainstream displays of all sizes. LCD screens enhanced with QDs are challenging OLEDs in some areas. The report also suggests that QD material supply is no longer an issue. Due to these factors, the market outlook for QDs is bullish.
Revenues are mainly expected to come from the display industry in the mid-term, although there will also be uses in solid-state lighting, solar cells and as fluorescent biomarkers.
