A prototype of glasses using ‘retinal-scanning laser eyewear technology’, to improve wearer’s vision, has been shown at the Medical IT Solutions Expo of Medical Japan 2016, by QD Laser Inc. The glasses are an augmented reality device that projects an image directly on to the user’s retina. They do not require the user to focus his or her eyes, and enable even people with ‘very weak’ eyesight to see clear images, said QD Laser. The firm intends to commercialise the glasses, either as glasses for people with weak vision or as an AR device that superimposes information on a wearer’s field of view.
