PQLabs has also been developing its software to allow objects to be recognised based on the colour or shape of the object. There are other systems that can do that, but typically need specially coded markers on the bottom of the object, but PQLabs is achieving this just by the way that it processes the regular touch data. The technology can also be used to differentiate the left and right hands (although it can’t differentiate between two right hands). The company hopes to be able to develop the technique to allow the recognition of pens, in the future.
