Sony has announced a permanent price drop for PlayStation VR in the US and the UK, which takes effect from March 29th. Consumers can now pick up a PSVR bundle at prices starting from $299, or £259 in the UK.
Analyst Comment
We don’t know what the exact motivation is behind this price drop, considering PSVR has been performing well. It would be bad form of Sony to keep quiet regarding any hardware revisions that might be on the horizon, dropping the price of the original to shift units before a new edition supersedes it. It’s more likely to be a simple question of competing with HTC Vive, which also saw a substantial price drop last month. (AF)
