Planar Systems, which is now part of Leyard, is to buy NaturalPoint, a developer of optical tracking and motion capture solutions. The technology is used in CAVEs, drone tracking, sports performance analysis, game play, animation and visualistation. The deal is valued at $125 million and is a cash deal. NaturalPoint has an HQ two hours south of the Planar campus in Oregon and has a team of 60 in North America.
The deal is expected to be finalised by the end of the year or early in 2017.
