Pimax “8K” Headset Delayed Again Due to Lens Design Issues

Pimax has announced that its “8K” M1 headset has suffered further setbacks, pushing its release back another month to May. The latest delays have been linked to issues with lens design. (Pimax Announces Its “8K” VR Headset is Delayed Until 2018 Q2)

In its blog, the company wrote, “We have adjusted the lens design three times. Each adjustment requests a new tooling. It costs $50,000 to $100,000 and a few more weeks for a new tooling each time but we believe the improvements in visual quality are worth the cost”.

Even when initial pre-production headsets are finally shipped, the company has said that beta testing will be reserved for “trusted community leaders, professional reviewers, or both”.
